Strategic Planning 2027

Careers in veterinary medicine offer three great things:

  • Camaraderie and a sense that your efforts combine with those of others to create medicine and service that stand out.
  • An energized setting where the stakes are high and where you are regularly invited to become more than you already are.
  • A chance to be valued by your peers and to understand what they see of value in you.

If your work has begun to feel like nothing more than the sum of your mistakes, a battle to survive, or a constant struggle with clients, coworkers, or the system itself, it may be time for a reset.

After nearly 20 years of working with hospitals, I can help you comprehensively understand where you are today: your service and leadership strengths, the health of your team, and the value of your business. I can then help you alight upon a short list of goals to pursue in 2027 designed to improve service and care, help your employees see the value of supportive collaboration, and teach your leaders an approach to goal setting and management that positions them as coaches, not cops.

Never shaming or blaming, my assessment of your hospital will leave you understanding more about what’s right with what you’re doing than what’s wrong, with a sense of being understood and seen for what you are trying to accomplish, not what you’ve failed to get done. Best of all, I will help you determine your best way forward in 2027 and, if necessary, provide support throughout the year to help you get there.

Pittsburgh Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center

We employed Mr. Halow to conduct a strategic planning session for our referral practice, Pittsburgh Veterinary Surgical and Emergency Center. His sessions were well prepared, professional, and effective at getting everyone interacting, thinking, and contributing to an understanding of why we are successful and what we needed to do to remain that way.

With more than 300 team members participating in the process (we’re a big hospital!), along with 13 owners, we occasionally needed someone to refocus the group and put us back on track. Mr. Halow always handled these situations professionally and capably.

He also spent additional time outside of our planning sessions speaking one-on-one with participants. He did this to ensure everyone felt heard and to give them the opportunity to work through their thoughts in a more relaxed environment.

Throughout our work together, Mr. Halow remained adaptable to our schedule and our needs, understanding, as he does, how complicated this business can be.

I highly recommend his strategic planning services to any veterinary practice. He will help you identify your organization’s highest priorities and map out a pathway to achieving them. Best of all, he is there for your entire team throughout the process—not waiting to catch you when you fall, but helping you stay upright in the first place.
